For Families - How to Apply

Two Ways to Enroll

Marin's Community School serves students from 7th-12th grade from throughout the county. The program operates in tandem with Phoenix Academy Charter School. As such, there are two ways to enroll in our programs.

1) Referral to Marin's Community School Through a Local District

As we challenge the traditional identity of alternative education programs, we encourage referrals as early as possible for students who would benefit from our program.

To enroll in Marin's Community School, students must first register with a District, and then students may be referred to our program through the District. Students, parents, and families cannot directly apply to Marin's Community School - the referral MUST come from district personnel.

Generally, districts refer students through SARB or expulsion. However, we do have students who self-refer, and many who elect to stay with us after the completion of their contracts because they value our programs. In these cases, we would work with the MCOE team as well as the home District to ensure our school is the best placement for the students. The referral form can be found on the For Districts - How to Refer page of our website.

2) Apply Directly to Phoenix Academy Charter School (9th - 12th grades only)

We are excited to offer a viable alternative program for students and families who are seeking a smaller setting with a higher staff-to-student ratio, personalized learning, and increased supports so that students can be prepared for college, career, and life.

Families can directly apply to enroll their student(s). The application window to enroll in Phoenix Academy Charter School for the 2024-2025 school year is now CLOSED. If you are interested in applying to Phoenix Academy for the 2025-2026 school year, please complete the "Intent To Enroll" form below and contact our office at 415-491-0581 to inquire about our next open enrollment window. If there are more applications than we have room for students, we will conduct a public random drawing on March 31, 2025.
