How to Enroll

Marin's Community School serves students in grades 7–12 from across Marin County.

To enroll in Marin's Community School, students must:

  1. Be enrolled with a local school district.

  2. Be formally referred to our program by district staff.

We encourage districts to consider referrals early when a student may benefit from a smaller setting, more individual support, and a different approach to learning.

Students and families cannot apply directly to Marin's Community School. A formal referral must come from the student's school district.

Most referrals are made through the School Attendance Review Board (SARB) or expulsion process. In some cases, students or families may express interest in attending Marin's Community School. Students may also choose to remain in the program after completing their original placement because the program continues to meet their needs.

In these situations, MCOE works with the student's home district to determine whether Marin's Community School is an appropriate placement.
