Marin's Community School is pleased to offer exciting new options for students to help them explore possible career paths, gain hands-on workplace skills, and practice their academic knowledge in a "real world" setting. Through this program, students can participate in single-day job shadows, short-term internships (less than three weeks), or long-term internships (more than three weeks). We partner with Big Picture Learning to expand opportunities to students in their community and expand their social network.
What is LTI?
Through our Learning Through Interest (LTI) program, students will have the opportunity to gain that experience through a series of career exploration activities. To help our students create personal and academic goals aimed at developing a more detailed future orientation for themselves, this program will connect students with professional experts and community mentors from different career fields in a variety of ways. This includes informational interviews, job shadows, mentorships, and personalized learning projects that connect student interests with the classroom curriculum. While participating in these structured activities, our students will begin to develop a deeper understanding of how their interests and goals impact those around them in the real world.
How can I get involved?
If you are a student interested in participating in the program, complete the Student Internship Application form (PDF) and return to the College and Career Counselor (Jonthan Lucha).
If you are a community member interested in being a mentor for a student, please contact our office at (415) 491-0581 or send an e-mail at mcsinfo@marinschools.org
If you are a community partner that would like to support a student at your business or organization with an internship, complete the above the Partner Request for Interns form (PDF) and email to Jonathan Lucha, College and Career Advisor (jlucha@marinschools.org 415-492-5894).
Once a student and a community partner have decided to work together in our internship program, the youth and partnering agency will meet with Jonathan Lucha to complete a Work Experience Education (WEE) Student Training Agreement together.
